Spotlight on the ingredients:

Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter: The oil from the fruit of the shea tree is rich in natural moisturizing factors including essential fatty acids and acts as a skin conditioner.

Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Oil: Tea tree oil contains a number of compounds, including terpinen-4-ol, that have been shown to kill certain bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

Litsea Cubeba Fruit Oil: Litsea is known for its essential oil, which has a protective action against several bacteria, possesses antioxidant and anti-parasitic properties.

Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil: Effective for acne-prone skin due to its antiseptic, antibacterial and regenerative properties.

Manicouagan Sea Clay: is one of the richest in minerals and trace elements sources in the world, located in the northern boreal part of Canada it contains 42 Of the 102 known elements of the earth.

Over hundreds of thousands of years, a mixture of freshwater, saltwater, and interstitial water combined with the water in the protective peatland, creating a clay-rich soil full of sediments and humic acid. The peat in the area is rich in humic acids and medicinal plants and has been filtering out environmental contaminants for thousands of years, leaving a pure and truly unique marine mud. The humic acids stimulate blood circulation and intercellular exchange, making this mud one of a kind in the world.

This marine mud is always mined during the winter, in order to conserve and protect the external environment as well as possible. Respecting the environment will be a primary concern of Manicouagan Sea Minerals, with a view to sustainable development. The thick layer of peat is placed aside to enable cleaner extraction of the clay mud. Once extraction is complete, the layer of peat is put back in place, such that the mining process leaves ‘zero footprint’. The Manicouagan Sea Minerals Company carries the Manicouagan-Uapishka Biosphere Reserve’s seal of approval for its quality as an environmentally responsible business.”

From a scientific perspective, Manicouagan Sea Minerals mud acts as:

  • Exfoliants: from its iolite, quartz and sodium and potassium oxide content
  • An astringent: from its oxide and mineral salt content
  • A moisturizer: from its interstitial water containing minerals salts and trace minerals
  • A revitalizing agent: from its trace mineral and mineral salt content
  • A cleansing agent: from its sodium and potassium oxides and electrically charged particles.

Octyldodecanol: Acts as an emollient, leaves the skin soft and smooth.

Capsicum Annuum: Acts as a vasodilator to improve the microcirculation of the skin.

Tocopherol (Vitamin E): used as an anti-oxidant and natural preserving agent.
